I couldn't find the link to the Economist article, but apparently it is in the Sept. 4th edition....

Very disturbing and quite similiar to the impression I'm getting from my conversations with those who are dealing with that nation.

Very interesting input though about how they expect Y2K inventory building to boost economic performance in the short-term, but then cause a major contraction early next year as inventories are burned off. Closely matches other economic scenarios I've heard on how Y2K preparations/reparations are distorting the global economy, especially in the energy sector.
