I see 3 possible reasons for today's explosion, with over $100 million changing hands:

1. Take-over (Softbank could do it with its tip-money)... time will tell.
2. A fund manager who's been told by the stogie-smoker in the corner office to get in and he doesn't care what he pays, in which case gravity will set in tomorrow.
3. The Global Crossing/Softbank deal is making the "Asian internet" theme hot again, in which case you gotta see how CHINA, XNET, GTCI, IMOT, CAOL etc. will react.

BTW, if you want to make money on the web in Asia, you should have owned Softbank on the Tokyo S.E. a long time ago. It's the 800lb. gorilla, and it's unstoppable. Several times the size of CMGI. Merrill Lynch is market-maker in the US, for example.

Any thoughts?
