Chung:

I suggest you do some DD. AOL members are not "stuck", as you write, when trying to retrieve their AOL mail from a PC connected to the web by something other than AOL.

AOL users can get their AOL mail from any PC with internet access. It's called AOL NetMail, aol.com.

Chung, it is not the teachers preference. It is a service being provided to students. So we have to look at what do most of the students, if not all the students, have. They have AOL. Why? Because a 5th grader feels comfortable with AOL and most of them have AOL. They also feel comfortable with the buddy chat of AOL and the teacher can conference with them on AOL.

Besides, if either the student or teacher is visiting somebody else, I don't thing quality work can be done. Homework is done from one's home.

That is what I call Cyber community.
