>>I HATE THAT FEATURE.

Mshater - you seem to be exhibiting extreme hatred toward Microsoft today. While your questions do not pertain to the Linux-NT issue, I will attempt to answer them:

1. To turn off auto-complete in Excel, do the following (I assume you are using Excel 97): With a worksheet active, select Options from the Tools menu - on the Edit tab of the Tools-Options dialog box, uncheck the very last checkbox labeled "Enable AutoComplete for Cell Values".

2. To turn off the Office Assistant (for the most part), you can do the following: Bring up the assistant, click on the assistant, select Options and uncheck all the boxes under Assistant capabilities.

If you have further questions or feedback regarding Microsoft products, I suggest you call Microsoft.

Regarding CIOs, you apparently are missing the point. The average Fortune 500 CIO is not a stupid person - he/she just takes a lot of other factors into account when deciding which operating system to purchase and deploy. Do you disagree that it might be possible for a well-informed educated person to have a different view of the capabilities and financial return of Linux than your own? If you are a proponent of Linux, you would do well to accept this notion - as it will help you to identify the deficiencies in Linux and improve the product. However, if you adopt a "Linux is better than everything in the world" approach and continue on with the notion that "Software that Microsoft produces is garbage" you might be actually hurting Linux's prospects. Great products are not built on the assumption of superiority - rather they are built on acknowledgement of deficiencies, and working to overcome those deficiencies.

Thanks for your post.
