I believe that under the current market climate that the reaction to a Red Hat purchase of Corel would be viewed positively and probably cause both RHAT and CORL to rise.

However, I believe the move would be a very risky one for Red Hat - of course, since Red Hat has tremendous currency in its stock, it may not be that risky (as it would not cost them very much). Corel has been struggling to stay afloat for the past 4 years - the company has only come back to life of late through it's announcement of support for Linux. I view this for the most part as being vapor. It will take much more than an announcement to boost Corel's revenues and profits.
