AMPD news

RARATIN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1999--Amplidyne, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMPD - news, AMPDW - news), a manufacturer of wireless amplifiers and data communication equipment, has just announced a new set of products, to offer high speed wireless internet access. The Amplidyne equipment will be compatible to IEEE 802.11 standards.

Using equipment in the license free 2.4 GHz band, Amplidyne is able to offer subscribers internet access with speeds up to 2,000 Kbps (2 Mbps), much faster than a 56 Kbps dial-up telephone connection. The Amplidyne equipment operates much faster than the much touted Blue Tooth system, operating at 432.6 Kbps. Amplidyne's high speed connection will be available automatically 24 hours a day -- no dialing or user intervention is necessary.

An Amplidyne Access Point Device, located at the subscribers' location would connect to a wired LAN (Local Area Network). This will enable all computers on that network to have continuous high speed wireless internet access at a fraction of the cost of having wired internet service (such as a T1 line) brought to their home office, office or enterprise. By using roof top antennas, line of sight links up to 50 miles are possible. ISPs in metropolitan areas who have access to radio towers can offer multiple subscription service using this technology.

Amplidyne's wireless internet access service is high speed in both directions, unlike other services presently in operation. Large files that take minutes to send using dial-phone services will only take a few seconds using Amplidyne's high speed wireless internet access.

Devendar S. Bains, the president, chief executive officer and chairman of Amplidyne, Inc. stated ''The introduction of these new products from our newly created division, in a relatively short span, is an excellent achievement for Amplidyne. The world wide demand for wireless internet multimedia and high speed data requirements is a natural area for Amplidyne to pursue with its advanced patented technology. I personally am very excited to be a part of this new technology as we envision a world able to communicate through wireless connectivity for the new millennium. Exciting new products with higher speeds are being with higher speeds are being developed and will be available in due course from our new division.''
