Netscape 3.0 Just Went Down on This Man's Network (9/9/99)

<< Netscape 3.X written 2 years ago for Windoze 95 is not Y99 complient.

As a network administrator, I deployed Netscape 3.X on my clients and decided not to upgrade due to the huge size of the later upgrades. 3.X is about 3 megs, 4.X is 12 megs.

It is now upgrade time. I came into work this AM and my entire network is unable to access email or the net because netscape 3.X can't handle 9/9/99.

This software is only 2 years old, and is a 32 bit application, guess what is going to happen when the real date changes to 00. I thought I thoroughly tested my software, and I considered my network "fully Y2K complient." I was very wrong.

I finished my patches for today, January will be very busy indeed. >>
