sure they sell beer in quarts. at least here in the backwoods. <g> "the pint" is a great example. but i'm at a point in the book where the father is gone, to england to work. not much of "the pint" going on at this point. i would observe also, that when frankie's mother went to the hospital with "the pneumonia" and they stayed at "the aunt's house"...even though they were finally pretty well fed, the negative of the aunt's nagging far outweighed having food. they were miserable there. he even stood out in the yard trying to catch "the galloping consumption".
