Now customers can receive the benefits of the Sprint PCS Free & Clear Plan including free long distance, regardless of a customer's credit status. Finally, anyone who wants to subscribe to wireless service, without subscribing to a prepaid plan, can with Sprint PCS Account Spending Limits. Sprint PCS customers in the Account Spending Limits program will be assigned a credit class with an attached dollar amount ($125 or $200), much like that of a typical credit card arrangement. Depending on the assigned credit class, Sprint PCS Account Spending Limits customers may be required to pay a $125 deposit, which is fully refundable after 12 months with 6% interest, assuming a satisfactory payment record. After the credit class is determined and a deposit is paid, if necessary, Account Spending Limits customers may sign up for any Sprint PCS service plan or promotion and will also be able to roam if using a dual-band Sprint PCS Phone(TM). ''Sprint PCS Account Spending Limits allows anyone to receive the benefits of the Sprint PCS nationwide wireless network, regardless of their credit status,'' said Charles Levine, chief sales and marketing officer for Sprint PCS. When a customer reaches 80 percent of the spending limit, a text message is sent to the customer's phone that reads, ''SPENDING LIMIT ALERT.'' At this time, customers should make arrangements to pay down their balance. Customers do not need to subscribe to Sprint PCS Text Messaging to receive the notification, nor is the customer charged for the message.
