I find the same thing at Saratoga to some degree. That's part of what makes it my favorite betting meet in NY.

Pat Day takes too much money almost everywhere, but especially in Kentucky, so I like the idea of looking elsewhere too. The crowd loves him.

Thinking in value terms at the track is not very common. Most people are trying to pick the winner. Then they bet it. I try to sort of rank the contenders in order of preference and then look at the odds to see if anything is out line by enough to temp me to reach into my very deep pockets. (g)
