I'm just not good at this quick stuff, I got in AMPD at 8, but say it falling, so bailed at 8, and then it goes back up to 9+. I kick mysself for missing the gain, but usually I seem to buy at the peak, and at least I didn't lose anything but the commission>>>

ben,

don't kick yourself on this one, you made the right choice in this case...this stock could have fell to 7 before you even had a chance to get out...this is why i also stress to everyone...YOU NEED to be trading on a realtick III system if your serious about your trading...you guys using discount brokers may be doing ok but in reality you are trading blind and be doing much better if you switched.

ben, don't feel bad, these are hard to play, and honestly, that is how i usually do it as well... i just do small trades and think of every one as practice... and over time my record is improving a little...

you do have rt3 trading software, such as abwatley, right?

hang in there...

kathy :)

You did right by selling. Buying into a fast mover without doing homework first is a good way to ruin your portfolio. I wouldn't have touched ampd simply because it would take at least a day to get a sense of the company and that too long a time frame for things that trade big swings in minutes.
