I don't know how you can call what AMD is doing right now "leading".

You can continue to bite as a gnat at the heels of the machine, but it appears that it continues to role on quite nicely, now that Asia is coming back.

As with a lot of things, I believe your friends lead you to believe things based on only part of the picture.
