<That will result in FEWER Athlon orders at some time in the VERY NEAR FUTURE - most likeley already happening now - as manufacturers don't want to get stuck holding inventory that DOESN'T MOVE !>

I think I have already said that AMD lost the back-to-school opportunity and they don't have anyone but themselves to blame for it.

With respect to manufacturers holding inventory, Q3 was supposed to be a few hundred ku - i.e., no one OEM is probably holding more than 100Ku. So, this is probably not a big issue.

Now, the BIG question is can the units get sucked up in Q4 without having to resort to serious ASP drops. I think the answer is yes if they can clear the stuff out before CuMine introduction. If not, things are going to get ugly for everyone real soon - and I would be on the sidelines watching the show.
