I understand your pain. No one here can give you any suggestions. Did you buy more when AOL was in the $80's?

Insiders are massively selling into any rallies which most other net companies seem not to have such a problem. The institutions know that. So they are not touching this turd with a 10-foot pole.

Notice Yahoo's volume is more than the average, and it is up big. What is the volume of AOL today versus average? Does the management have shareholder-value's best interest at heart? Obviously not. These turds do not give a damn about new investors like yourself. They are the architect of this pyramid scam.

Jose,
I hear you, selling is tough. The market doesn't remember what you paid for your position it only reflects todays value. I sold my large position in May @135 5/8 and have been messing around with small several hundred share positions short term. There is a great book available about the inner game of investing. It reinforces all the rules we are supposed to follow but seldom do. Buy low, sell high, add to winners never losers, take losses quickly, yada yada yada, you know the rules. The market is really simple but we kill ourselves trying to make it complicated. I would suggest reading the book. Actually it should be required reading for all investors who have been fed the same old crap about reading reports, adding to losers and selling the winners. If the balance sheet, blue chip, upgrades, downgrades mattered we would all be instant millionares.
Its what you do after you own the stock that matters.

<<I know I'm not alone. Any comments as to whether to eat the loss and move on, or just give it a little more time (as if it hasn't had enough?....)

Jose,

I think you answered your own question earlier in your post.

" it ( aol ) is the premier internet stock..."

Yes, we are beaten down at the moment, but imho, this will be the internet stock to own for the next decade. I here people talk about how amzn has come back so well...and how it will soon pass aol again.......well, I tell ya...I will not and cannot dispute the gains amzn has had. But how does one sleep at night holding that stock ?? Buy aol...hold aol...and sleep like a baby. If you have the opportunity to buy at these discount levels, do so.

AOL is quietly going about it's business. New deals almost daily. People are so hyped on this broadband thing. First of all, aol and dsl are way ahead of the game. DSL will be bigger and aol is the man. Broadband - aol believe it or not is already tied in with broadband in a very large % of households, thru their various deals with the baby bells and etc.....Additionally, aol will do a deal with T or will do something with athm eventually and everybody will be happier. Do people really thin that Steve Case and Bob Pitman are just gonna let this pass them by ?? They will do whats necessary in the best interests of aol. If you look at the future and where the future is heading, who has the best chance of being the dominant player ? AOL. Free isp's and etc......a recent article summed it all up.Many people sign up for free service, but how many return a second time to actually use it ?? Additionally, if free isp actually worked and if it could actually take users from aol, do you think Case and pitman will let it happen. Surely, aol could put out their own lowgrade free isp if need be. Cheaper isp's...they have compuserve they can discount all they want. My point is, regardless what happens with the market, I have complete confidence that aol has the resources to do whatever is necessary to be the leader in this field. Their alliance with Sun is impressive and I don't think people see the real potential of this alliance as the real potential lies down the road. A hint, lies in Sun's new computer which is basically a monitor hooked up thru their giant servers. Linux going after MSFT, technology drifting to a place that aol currently dominates. I remember when the screen I saw most on my computer was the windows backdrop. Now, I am online 90% of the time looking at aol.....

Anyway......Don't fret it. AOL will have it's up's and down's.....But I feel anybody holding long term will be richly rewarded.

Good luck
