Here is the actual PR on the Beeb.com deal from the X-Stream site. These X-Stream guys are very, very good at promoting their company and turning it in to more than just a place to log on to access the Web. Now, if only I could figure out what the H*LL their plan is for XSNI and when they are going to start promoting their stock! Jeff

RELEASE DATE: 8th September 1999
THE X-STREAM NETWORK SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH BEEB.COM

The X-Stream Network agrees content redistribution deal with BBC Worldwide's commercial web service.

London, 8th September 1999 - The X-Stream Network, the UK's first free and third largest ISP, has signed a deal with BBC Worldwide Ltd. (http://www.beeb.com) to provide extensive content on X-Stream Central (http://www.x-stream.co.uk).

The access provided by X-Stream will include Top Gear, Top of the Pops, Radio Times, Good Homes, Holiday and Gardeners World. With Radio Times, X-Stream users will be able to take advantage of the Radio Times 'Megasearch' box. This will allow them to search across all channels to find out what's on in the coming weeks in the world of TV and Radio. With Top Gear, X-Stream users will be able to utilise the 'Car Chase' database that has a choice of over 5000 new and used cars that are priced and road tested. They can search for the exact car of their dreams at no cost. The content provided consists of 'webzines' that reflect BBC Worldwide's magazine business.

Paul Myers of X-Stream comments, "When it comes to providing up-to-date, high quality content to users, you can't do much better than beeb.com. X-Stream is continually looking for new ways to make sure our users have rapid access to the latest leisure and entertainment information they need. The added bonus with X-Stream, of course, is that they can access it for free."

David Atter, Sales and Marketing Director, beeb.com, comments, "beeb.com is distinct from BBC Online (http://bbc.co.uk) which is the license fee funded public service website looking after areas such as news and the World Service. beeb.com is independent of licence fee funding and is a commercial organisation. This fits with the X-Stream philosophy and this agreement means that we can channel people to our sites without them paying for Internet access whilst benefiting from X-Stream's service and extended content."

X-Stream users will have their questions answered live by various celebrities through beeb.com's Chat schedules. Past guests include Zo‰ Ball, Ewan McGregor, Billie, B*Witched, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Lawrence Dallaglio, Paul Nicholls as well as fantasy guests in the form of Marilyn Monroe, James Bond and King Henry VIII.

The agreement offers the variety and quality of content offered by BBC Worldwide to X-Stream users. The fact that X-Stream is one of the UK's fastest growing ISP's with a subscriber base of over 440,000 users, ensures that this deal will be a great success enhancing X-Stream Central with even more quality content for users, absolutely free.

Norway X-Streamly keen on free Net access

X-Stream invades the Vikings with a free Internet access distribution deal.
Norway will soon be experiencing the joys of free Internet access, UK style, after a deal struck today between pioneering free UK ISP X-Stream Networks and Norwegian loyalty scheme Domino.

Beginning 16 September, X-Stream Internet access software will be available on CD from Norwegian petrol stations and from the Norwegian X-Stream Web site.

X-Stream Network COO Paul Myers says X-Stream is set to take the Norwegian ISP market by storm. "Domino has membership encompassing 60 percent of Norwegian homes, a 71 percent brand recognition and a high association with quality and value. We believe Domino to be the most powerful and suitable partners in the region. This expansion takes X-Stream to another level."

Stefan Elmer, Internet analyst with IDC's European Internet research centre, says such partnerships are an important strategy for ISPs to pursue for long-term competitiveness. "A pan-European approach is important. Those companies that can provide a service across Europe are most likely to be successful in the long term."
