wonder if this will be cdma ? NT & Ericsson competing in Mexico

Bruce (and Jim F), over the last couple of months I posted two or three times concerning a nascent wireless provider in Mexico which had had difficulty paying for spectrum originally won in 1997...missed payments and fear of a failed business initially drove NT (CDMA) away and let ERICY in the door (GSM--at that time in April 1999, or so). I couldn't name names in those posts out of consideration and respect for confidentiality for my friend who works at the company. That company is Unefon. Its prospects for offering low price wireless are good, and in some ways a leg up on the competition, because it has captive tower locations all over Mexico because of who its affiliates are (retail locations throughout the country). When Unefon obtained financing this year to finally pay for the spectrum, NT apparently came back into the picture. Earlier, the company was leaning toward GSM, and while not at liberty to say all, I think it's now a toss-up. Good luck for CDMA across all Mexico!!

Regards. Steven
