Thanks wily, reason it came about, a distant cousin, both biological and space wise, are in a small genealogy group. I e-mailed a *.tif file to a member and he e-mailed back he could not open the file on his WebTV.net. Could only open *.txt files. I can fax or snail mail to him. Seems to me the *.tif file, the program to open the file, is piggybacked onto the file in order for the recipient to open it, is reason for it being +1mb.

Thanks for the OCR suggestion. I'll follow that lead. If I use MS Picture It99 to scan text I seem to get a grey background and hard to read. The *.tif file is very clear and only complaint is the fellow with WebTV can't open it.

Have a Good week-end,

Regards, /jw

The only way to get it back into text would be to type it out manually, who ME!!!!!, not with one finger, LOL
