<<How the Indonesian military can believe that persecuting minorities will help hold the Country together is far beyond my comprehension- can someone enlighten me as to what they are trying to accomplish?>>

In the long run, it won't help, of course. Nothing will. Indonesia wasn't meant to be a single country. Of course, the boys in Jakarta pulling the strings don't want to give up their oil and gas wells, gold and copper mines, and the power inherent in controlling the 4th most populous country in the world.

I wonder how the majors will handle it when Indonesia starts to break apart. I have a vague recollection of that old tv show Dallas, in particular a story line about JR's investment in Indonesian oil wells that went bad following a revolution.
