BIS-Central banks see risk of stock sell-off
BASLE, Switzerland, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Central banks believe a sell-off on stock markets is among potential downside risks to world economic growth, Bank of England Governor Eddie George said on Monday.

Other risks are imbalances in the external positions of large currency blocks and concern that faster growth could fuel inflation, he added after a meeting of central bankers from Group of 10 (G10) and other countries at the Bank for International Settlements in Basle.

''There was concern that the stock market has been extremely strong and there could be an abrupt adjustment on that front...On the whole, although vulnerabilities were discussed as they always are, we felt that the evolution in the industrial countries and the prospects of managing the situation without these things becoming critical was rather better than it had been,'' he said.
