That she was offered the job by W and wants it is much more plausible than her "I just want to be Governor" explanation for not running for the Senate.

Kind of an inelegant sentence but to hell with it.

You are joshing us. Biggest mistake Bush (assuming) could make. Huge.

She's not popular even in her home state and has no charisma. Her victories are better termed "near defeats", she ran against an incredibly unpopular incumbent and then an unknown and both times she could not achieve even a bare majority! She has governed as a Rockefeller Rep liberal and appointed the worst judges.

Whitman just dropped out of the Senate race as a sure loser (w/ Bob Grant in there). Her choice by Bush would guarantee a major schism with an invigorated Buchanan effort - the worst possible scenario for any Rep.

Whitman is all negatives and absolutely no positives.
