Image Entertainment Enters Into Agreement With RadioShack to Handle Consumer Fulfillment of DVD Software
Agreement Marks the Entry of Image's Las Vegas Warehouse Into Direct-to-Consumer Fulfillment
CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Sept. 10, 1999-- Image Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq:DISK - news), a leading licensee and distributor of DVD programming in North America, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with RadioShack, a Tandy Corporation, which will see the Company fulfilling consumer-direct DVD software orders for the RadioShack Unlimited (RSU) Program.

The RSU Program is a special order system by which RadioShack consumers can order merchandise from a selection of more than 100,000 unique and often hard-to-find personal electronics products, accessories, replacement parts, components, and now, DVD software. The RSU Program is offered at all 6,900 RadioShack company-owned stores and dealer/franchise outlets.

Merchandise offered through the RSU program is not stocked at store locations. When ordered through an in-store kiosk system, these products are shipped directly to the consumer.

Martin W. Greenwald, Image's President and CEO, stated, ''The RSU Program utilizes the first of many services to be offered as part of Image's direct-to-consumer initiative. In the coming quarter we will be expanding on this to include fully integrated product purchasing, order fulfillment, inventory management and returns processing. At that point our subsidiary, Ken Crane's, will be the first beneficiary of this complete service.''

David Borshell, Image's Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Operations, stated, ''This consumer fulfillment program is a first for Image Entertainment. We look forward to helping further establish RadioShack as a consumer destination for new, leading-edge digital products such as DVD. This process will take time and nurturing as we work to build DVD awareness among RadioShack consumers.''

The Image-RadioShack agreement began in July, coinciding with the commencement of RadioShack's in-store offering of DVD hardware at selected stores. The term of the agreement is one year, renewable for additional yearly periods upon the mutual consent of the parties.

For the rollout, Image has selected 2,200 best-selling DVD titles, representing all studios. All 2,200 titles are available for order by RadioShack consumers at participating RadioShack locations. Ordered product will be shipped directly to consumers from Image's Las Vegas warehouse facility. DVD title offerings for the RSU program will be updated throughout the year.
