About all we can say is that regardless of what happens it will be an evolutionary process. Cable is not everywhere in the US and a fair % of it is still unidirectional which requires people to have a phone line to send data back to the cable ISP. Phones lines are pretty much everywhere and when it comes to business they pay the big bucks and they are going the phone route, not cable.

Bottom line, both sides will make a lot of money and in all likelihood, the "Killer Solution" will not be cable or DSL.
And Bell South, QWST, LVLT and other fiberco's may be on the cutting edge of that future. forbes.com
