Ibexx and Briand, re book to bill ratio, the one for semiconductor manufacturers (Intel, TXN, etc.) is not even publicized anymore, may not even exist. The one that does come out is for the semiconductor equipment manufacturers (AMAT, Lam, etc.). Also, that surviving btb is not necessarily a good indicator for the chip equip sector, much less the semi sector itself. Better indicators for chip sales are SIA (Semiconductor Industry Association) world-wide semi sales numbers and predictions, and PC growth numbers. FWIW, the CEOs of Intel, AMAT and LSI all showed slides at their shareholders' meetings this year predicting very strong growth for semis sales all the way through 2001 and into 2002.
