S&P - All >> California law "Allows full capture" on all owned land, there is no such thing as "Forced Pooling" in California, in theory though SOP does not have to drill their well, but could reach an agreement with the current JV to pay SOP a royalty or apply to the courts for such royalty.

As far as the number of wells allowed I know here in Canada you can have any number of wells, but 4 to the section is normal one on each quarter... for example in heavy oil areas there could be 10 wells whipstocked from a central pad producing a 500 foot circle depending on depth.

All BKP has to do is hit, and they'll come knocking on SOP's door with the bucks...The guy getting drained is usually the benefactor from the "drainor"... In this case BKP will be paying SOP...

ABA/SOP property could have been a holdout piece from way back...Lottsa those little guy's sneak in amongst the bigger guy's in the mining industry, why not the O&G industry...

Most of SOP's directors are ex Occidental Oil & Gas Corp higher up type of guy's...One would think they knew what they where getting into and what the possible ramifications would be...One would also think that they wouldn't have pursed a deal of sorts ont the ABA property, if there was no benefit either to themselves or the company...

But then again, what the 'ell do I know...I'm always doing something for nothing...<GGG>...
