Thanks for the tip Gottfried. We were having no problems exchanging scanned articles from reference books (text) into *.tif format. File is long but quality is perfect.(black&White). This guy has webtv.net and says he can't open *.tif, *.gif, *.bmp, *.jpg or anything other than *.txt. I guess by that he means e-mail. Webtv.net sounds as if it has limitations.

With your's & wily's Tips I'll try and get a handle on making a 1 page *.tif 1.3mb file into a 15kb *.txt file.

Regards, /jw

Morning Gottfried, I Dn/L the E-Z Viewer and they do have a 30 day trial ver. Seems program only converts files between, *.bmp, *.gif, *.jpg, *.pcx, *.png and *.tif, nothing said about *.txt. Maybe this is an impossibility. I've only been into this a month or so and have a lot to learn. I'll follow thru' on wily's ideas also. I'm sure the OCR or other programs are out there, just finding right one.
