"in your case the PhD must mean "piled high and deep" !!!"

Why do PhD's or doctors of medicine insist on placing initials before or after their name anyway? Personally, I won't address a PhD as Doctor just because he went to school a little more than others. As our PhD here has shown, it certainly do not mean he understands any more than anyone else!

This is directed (vented?) at everyone, not just JWCB. I'm getting very peeved here and it's time to say something.

Look, folks. "gc" has proven time and again over the past 2-3 weeks that he/she/it is not going to respond to specific, directed questions with intellectually honest or even germane answers. It is simply not possible to have a 'discussion' on normal terms with this individual. When you take the bait (and you all seem to, perhaps despite your best intentions) and feel utterly compelled to challenge to one of the vacuous, one-sentence postings that gc specializes in, you're not going somehow miraculously and suddenly going to start engaging him/her/it in an intelligent debate that (a) exposes his/her/its bankrupt sniping for what it is, or (b) enlightens the rest of us. You're just going to get back another one-sentence non-sequiter that continues to pollute the thread and perpetuate the cycle.

Isn't this clear to everyone else by now? You're being baited and you're falling for it - and every time you do you bring this thread a little closer to being nothing more than a for-pay version of Yahoo (where this kind of 'discourse' makes up about three-quarters of the postings).

Experts counsel celebrities that the _only_ way to get rid of a stalker is to ignore them. Period. It is hard at first, but eventually they get tired and move on to the next target. The same applies here, IMHO. It's very hard at first, but please, for all the rest of us: keep this a useful, informative, civil venue by just saying NO.
