Fred,Aus & Thread:

Interesting story about Toshiba and the manufacturing process of the Smartmedia Cards. I read an article some time back about CF being thrown into a washing machine and it went through the process without any damaging results. The Smartmedia sounds like its sensitive, unlike CF. I conducted my own test. For the past 60 days I have had/carried a 20MB SANDISK CF chip in my front pockets with keys, change, and a variety of tools, knife etc. As I turn a wrench professionally you can imagine the damage possibilities. Well, I am here to tell you that it survived solvent abuse, items weighing in at 150lbs being set on it,vibration from impact guns, etc. Try that with the "other" technology.

PS. During that period, I also managed to shoot pix with that terrible grease on my hands. Pretty bullet proof IMHO.
