I had many of the problems you talk about with CSW and locking up. A knowledgeable poster recommended I download the latest version of IE5, and if that didn't help, the latest version of my operating system. IE5 took me over two hours (might be faster with a cable modem) to download at midnight, but it solved all my problems with locking up, multiscreens and the like. CSW works a lot better too.
