Nulldog, I haven't heard about that one. But if the warden found a formula that works, more power to him. As far as making them wear pink underpants is concerned, I wear them all the time, and I'm not humiliated one bit. Seriously though, there are worse things. I did hear of a case in Texas, I think, where a guy who had umpteen DUI's caused a car wreck in which a man was killed. And the judge ordered the guy to pay child support for the dead man's child. I thought It was great.

Here, in Iowa, we have one of the worst rated prisons in the nation. Last year (I think) the Fort Madison prison was visited by some liberal dignitary, probably Senator Harkin.

With him came people from a prision oversight board. They recommended a bunch of humanitarian changes. I can't remember everything, but I think that one item noted was that solitary was used both for behaviour punishment, and seclusion for violent mental inmates from the hospital side.

The papers ran a big spread about how bad our prisons were, and the liberal politicals (both of em), were waiting to rake in the kudos.

Nobody cared.

The prevailing attitude was, "So what, your're a prisoner, right!"

Maybe this is why Iowa is in the last 5 states for per capita violent crime. We try and make prison a punishment, instead of a reform party.
