Does the guy in the bar who gets in an argument with his drinking buddy and beats him up hate his buddy or is he just drunk? <<Aren't all crimes bad, whether they're motivated by hate or not?>> YES <<Does it make that big a difference if someone kills you for your wallet versus someone killing you because you are Jewish, gay, or whatever?>> There are differences today in degrees of murder - from premeditated murder (could get you executed) to manslaughter with as little as 1 year in jail. I contend that hate crimes for the most part are premeditated to the point where the criminals will go out of their way (drive into a black neighborhood for example) and commit the crime which is not usually murder but a beating. I also believe by having stiffer penalties that hate crimes will be reduced. Erase Hate, Dennis
