As if having been a drinker prior to prohibition meant you would have been a hypocrite if you enforced that law. That would be true only if you publicly enforced the law while privately violating it - like say, a current President is alleged to have done by witnesses who have gone on the record. That President has refused to answer those charges personally and publicly, instead sending out minions who have no actual knowledge to do the denying.
