Tom, i agree...the spike lower in the p/c ratio and the low VIX both speak of complacency returning. as to the potential of a pullback: there seems to be a growing consensus that the triple witching hour next week will produce an upside bias - and the market just loves to confound expectations. how far a pullback will go is something i will gauge in terms of how it is received - the less concern it provokes, the bigger it will get imo.

re PAIR -- I disagree

Pairgain's history is to consistently disappoint, not to provide an upside !!!!!!. The last six quarters or so have been chronic negative surprises, increasingly worse. PAIR was downgraded at least twice this summer. Although PAIR occasionally inflates (like recently) on the rumor of acquisition (eg, LU), it then relapses. PAIR is not a sign of the times - it has been, and remains, a dog of a stock.
