Chalu2:

Still up to your games, uh?

<<Ulysses Grant graduated at the bottom of his West Point class, and was the greatest Civil War general.>>

Bushwah...he won battles because he didn't give a d*mn how many casualties the Union took...he had a surfeit of numbers compared to the Confederacy.

<<he deserves more respect from people here whose "bravest acts" consist of advancing "tough" arguments on Internet forums.>>

Kind of inflammatory, isn't it? Especially since you haven't a clue as to whom you're addressing.

Lighten up, you're much more effective when you're changing subjects.<g>

>>Ulysses Grant graduated at the bottom of his West Point class, and was the greatest Civil War general.

And you are trying to make a point w/o removing your hat? Grant is universally considered to have been a lousy President who headed a most corrupt administration. (Gee - I got a FOURfer! Nailed McCain & Gore while you unwound your pathetic argument and made mine!).

>>McCain is a man of character. He volunteered for Vietnam combat duty

I guess when you choose the military as a career and graduate at the bottom you have to do something to make your mark.

>>he is the only candidate to "walk the talk" on the abortion issue by adopting a black orphan with health problems, and he makes sense on major issues to those who are not extremists.

"Extremist" apparently defined as anyone with a triple digit IQ. McCain made a speech in the SF area in which he changed his position on abortion markedly to fit the liberal audience. In the aftermath his position became so bizarre that he was universally panned. This man of principle destroyed himself by showing principles mean nothing to him in the pursuit of $$$ and votes. No wonder he wants campaign finance reform - he can't help himself.

Or do you think he was on drugs?

>>George Wilkes Bush
Pithy isn't your strong suit. Do you really mean to imply that Bush is a presidential assassin?

>>is not fit to shine McCain's combat boots. McCain came within an inch of giving his life to protect our freedoms--he deserves more respect from people here whose "bravest acts" consist of advancing "tough" arguments on Internet forums.

And when it comes to heroism McCain - getting captured - isn't fit to shine Bob Dole's . The fact is that neither will ever become president, Bob Dole - too old, John McCain - too flakey and volatile. If McCain wants to do penance for all his past sins let him do it where he can't harm the Constitution.

<<He volunteered for Vietnam combat duty >>

That should tell us something about his judgment.
