Yes I believe that is correct 47% of sites using NT servers have had outages of service for more than 24 hours. E. that number makes no sense to me, but I have no doubt that anybody can have 47% with a particular method of counting.

Out of context it has little meaning.

The last IDC report measuring shipping commercial servers had NT at about 35% and Linux at 17% (number of units shipped). This report was from the end of 1998, and had measured a growth-rate of over 200% for Linux. Considering the incredible amount of press/hype that Linux has received just in the past year, I'll assume that the IDC report for this year will show a similar growth for Linux, possibly matching or overtaking NT in number of units shipped for 1999.

Maybe the 47% number you saw referred to revenue instead of number of units...
