In actuality Qcom is in a better situation. In MSFT case there were superior technologies available(apple). I think LU, ERICY, MOT have already spent to much on CDMA to turn back. Do not forget it is a boom for all of them if everybody has to buy new phones. If GSM remained there would be less turnover. In Europe Nokia is salivating over the chance to sell phones to everyone in europe again. Who cares if they have to spend a small vig to Q. The GSM market has already become comoditized. I would also point out that VOD/AIR should be the first global seemless carrier' I would assume they would use CDMA. If thats the case and even if TDMA was adopted by ATT/BT then CDMA would get 1/2 the worlds phone users. In either case the growth is great. The question is how great. I think the last big obstacle that needs to fall is either ATT capiutulating, and the first European 3g LISCENCES get signed.
