It's $49/mo. for Pac Bell DSL, which got installed today!. I have joined the broad band revolution

As a DSL user for just a few weeks short of a year, I can assure you it will seem like a whole new online world after a few weeks of this.

BTW, that price seems to be about where the RBOCs are settling. US West is now $47.90 for line+ISP with an always-on connection. Some deals drop it lower if you add on extra junk to the line. They also offer a DSL line that's not always on for $10 less.

Unc--did you see RTev's post a while back--she said if I change I'll never go back to a regular modem again. Just yesterday a friend got a cable modem and he'll probably be gloating all week. Let me know how it is...maybe I'll cave in too
