Q learning to play hardball. Yanks VLSI license so Philips can not supply Erricson CDMA chipset. Uses MOT's stupid suit to make a move to remove MOT from CDMA universe. Boy its in the finest tradition of INTEL. Q wants to continue to dominate the CDMA chipset market for the foreseable future.

Re Qualcomm yanks VLSI commercial chip license from Philps:

If I remember correctly, Philips already has a handset license, and in fact were the first to get a license good for 3g. Assuming my memory is accurate, my guess is that Qualcomm isn't so much attempting to truly take away Philips license, but to ensure that it lines up with Philips' other licenses (e.g. they don't get to pick and choose the best aspects of each license.) and with other vendors who make both chips and phones (e.g. MOT).

PS Note that annoyingly I tried to check Qualcomm's website, but large chunks are inoperative today.
