If any of you don't know the CIA factbook, check it out -- it's fascinating browsing. I just ran across Baker Island. Before you go look, do you know where it is, who owns it, and what its size and population are? I thought not.

Well, that's the difference between de jure and de facto. That the US and almost everyone else was willing to suck up to Suharto is irrelevant to illegality. In international law, as in the hearts of men, there is no defense of laches.
