The Gambler, Our folks shuttle people regularly into Jakarta, Sulawesi, and Sumatra currently too. But you hit upon a major problem. A small core of friends enrich themselves at the center of the Indonesian Government. The Army used to exploit the provinces in which they were located- but the economy went "poof" and the Army is now shorthanded too...

The flippin' problem is that behind the scenes the PRC has been threatening to invade a couple of the outlying islands of Taiwan unless Taiwan publicly drops its aspirations for statehood. (Quemoy and Matsu, I believe). So we don't need problems in Indonesia right now as we formulate a plan to keep an eye on the even bigger human rights violator to the North, the People's Republic of China...

But you have to wonder whether Indonesia will be a stable prodcuer of oil & gas moving forward....I'll write even more about the Aceh Guerillas in Sumatra when I get a chance since they have been threatening the oil & gas installations of late...
