You may be right about the Democratic strategy, and consequently about the greater danger from Republican "opposition research". On the other hand, with the "narrative" for this election season rapidly becoming the public's "delayed reaction" to the scandalous Clinton White House, and desire for a change even when the economy is going well, I think if I were a Democrat I would want to knock off Bush, a key element in the story, fast. If this keeps up, not only can Bush survive all but a knock out blow, but Gore will be permanently damaged goods, and the Congress will likely remain in Republican hands.....
