The quiet period for INTC began today. Yesterday was the last chance for a pre-announcement

jmac,

I'm not so sure this is correct. Can't a company announce something that materially effects the stock price at any time ? In fact, aren't they required to do so ?

In 1996, Intel preannounced either after the close on Sept 16 or before the open on Sept 17, creating the "gap at 90" (currently at 22 1/2 after splits). Earnings were announced on Oct 8 or 15, but I'm not sure which.

Best Trading,
X

The quiet period for INTC began today. Yesterday was the last chance for a pre-announcement and I suspect that is why the stock drifted.

Back in the Bad Old Days we could expect Kurlak to drool out a few negative comments about this time. I guess now all we have to worry about is Niles to start warning everyone about how AMD is going to bankrupt INTC.
