Lysis and DiviCom Strengthen Partnership with Reseller Agreement; Accord Allows DiviCom to Sell Lysis iDTV Management Software Directly to Customers
AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 1999-- Software provider, Lysis SA today announced a deal with DiviCom Inc., a C-Cube (Nasdaq:CUBE) subsidiary and the world's leading provider of open solutions for digital television, in which DiviCom will resell the company's sophisticated digital broadcast management software as part of its channel distribution product line.
In a move aimed at streamlining sales and technology-integration operations, the new agreement will make it easier for operators to implement digital television broadcast (DTV) services.
Under the agreement, DiviCom will sell the Swiss-based company's leading software platform, designed to manage and deliver digital media content over DTV broadcast channels and the Internet. The platform -- Lysis iDTV -- allows broadcasters to, among other things, add pay-per-view programs at prime time, add infomercials during non-peak periods and switch between a single high-definition program and multiple standard-definition programs.
"This agreement helps DiviCom round out our extensive range of technical solutions for operational digital broadcasters and network operators," said DiviCom president Tom Lookabaugh. "Together, DiviCom and Lysis are not only creating better products for our customers but we are also opening API's that will enable the delivery of interactive TV, targeted advertising, targeted content and customized programming. We are pleased to expand the product line of DTV solutions that we offer to our customers."
The deal is part of a strategic partnership between DiviCom and Lysis. The partnership is focused on enhancing the management of content and resources in the digital domain. In keeping with DiviCom's open solutions, DiviCom-Lysis interfaces allow both companies to integrate their products with other vendors. The reseller's agreement strengthens DiviCom's technology offering, putting it ahead of other head-end solutions. In addition, for customers, the agreement means a single point of contact for resolving sales and integration issues.
Stelio Tzonis, Lysis chief technology officer, said, "This reseller agreement is a powerful testimonial to the added value of our software. Lysis and DiviCom have already delivered joint solutions for customers in the US, UK and Europe. For Lysis, the reach of DiviCom's channel to the market and its capacity for frontline support in all these places are vital to the growth of our software. Both sides remain naturally open to work with other vendors on other solutions, and the customer gains a high level of functionality and capacity to deploy and gain return on investment with a simple choice."
At IBC, DiviCom and Lysis will demonstrate the jointly developed DiviCom/Lysis Schedule Manager to show the capabilities of time-of-day bandwidth and facilities management for digital compression equipment. Lysis will showcase its Lysis iDTV platform managing a complete compression transport using DiviCom's award-winning MV40 in a show of the full capabilities of an advanced traffic and automation system.
In another forward-looking venture, DiviCom and Lysis are developing a point-and-click technology that will enable network and multiplex operators to easily control both their on-air schedule and dynamic allocation of bandwidth to streams within the digital TV multiplex. This leading-edge solution will address the enormous complexities involved for operators in making optimum use of their bandwidth when delivering enhanced or interactive or data-broadcast services. Together, Lysis and DiviCom will deliver an integrated multiplex-management software solution for managing datacasting for interactive services.
