I just looked up Sweet Potato Queen's at Amazon. It sounds like fun. I *will* pick up a copy.

Neat about the movies. I haven't watched enough in years to have picks, really. I did enjoy "An Ideal Husband" which was not a real big budget film, I don't think. It did pretty well at the boxoffice.

I got Vertigo and a Marx Brothers film for my b-day. I've been saving them. Also, two episodes of Sherlock from the A&E series. I wouldn't mind having the whole set. I enjoy them so much.

Your plan for the day sounds most excellent. I need to do homework, or write, or something. Maybe take out the trash.

Movies "like that" ~ "The Full Monty" ~ movies that made me feel really good during and happy afterward. Not too many movies like that.

"Shakespear in Love" is good all the way through, with a sorta happy ending. Everyone in the audience applauded at the end.

"Wings of Desire," by Wim Wenders, the original one in black and white, a little sad during but happy at the end. A wonderful movie. And the American remake with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan was actually good, but you won't like the ending. Have a box of Kleenex handy, but great if you want a good cry. That's for the remake, the first one is very life-affirming.

A couple of recent (relatively) Meg Ryan movies worth seeing, "Sleepless in Seattle," and "You've Got Mail."

"Blue", a film by a Polish guy in French, with French speaking actors, subtitled, can't remember his name, part of a trilogy, "Blue," "Red", and "White" ~ the colors of the French, and Polish, flag. Very, very sad beginning, but very, very happy ending. My second favorite movie of all time, after "The Seven Samurai." I can't recommend this movie highly enough, but I admit that no one seems to love it as much as I do.

I'll recommend a movie that was never well received but I think is a great movie. It's "Heaven's Gate".

reel.com

I paid more than twice reel.com's price for it years ago. It's two tapes. Long movie. I watched it when I was sick too. I rented it originally at a video rental.

Also this PBS series that was later bought and marketed by HBO is great IMO. It's 11 episodes on 4 tapes. LOL
