Two things: I remember seeing Bruce Francis on CNN after Star kickoff and the guy was like zombie Star bullish. I see why now; he had a one on one with Eddie Zander. :)

Finding the similar recent MSFT analyst notes, I clicked on the one from the most familiar name (CSFB). This is what the analyst is basing his MSFT recommendation on (licensing free email?) <g>

Michael Kwatinetz, an analyst with Credit Suisse First Boston

They're really leaning toward being an infrastructure provider. That's what they've always done in PC
space

MSFT wants to supply technology to Web players seeking to compete with AOL by licensing properties such as its Hotmail e-mail service and instant-messaging software.

Yahoo, Excite and all the other guys are not really technology companies
