I've been through many splits. Bottom line is, you don't have to worry about it! If you buy 100 shares at 50 on Sept 22, you will have 200 shares around 25 on the 23rd (assuming the price is relatively stable). Your statement will show that you got a "dividend" of 100 shares on the 23rd independent of when you bought it. There is no magic here!

Between the 3rd and 24th you might see two versions of COHU trading. The straight COHU will trade and the current price. COHU on a "when issued" basis can trade at about half of COHU's price. Settlement on the COHUwi stock will take place immediately after the split.
