I agree it is a done deal.

I also believe that Intel will hold off until it surveys the 820/DRDRAM market response.

If Rambus supply falters or performance is lacking they will push 810e hard.

Otherwise they won't start pushing till Q1 2000.

IMHO this is very clever and proper for INTC to hedge their bets this way.

Effects of current DRAM pricing...

If SDRAM prices stay high, will the RAM producers be less likely to decide that switching some of their production lines over to rambus is worth the time, cost, and risk?

Why shut down a line and incur additional expenses when you can just leave it the way it is and mint money? Why start up a 128mbit rambus line when you can start up a 256mbit SDRAM line with fewer risks and make greater profits?
