KZNerd,

<<<I searched in vain to find the 1 gigabyte RDRAM. I did find a 1 gigabyte sdram DIMM module however.>>>

The way I read this is it will be available next year.

Over the years, a lot has happened in the world of DRAMs. And over the years, Samsung has made a lot of it happen. The direct RAMBUS architecture is probably about as momentous as any of it. And that's exactly why Samsung is taking every step to be the major force in RDRAMs. We've brought our unsurpassed prowess in memory manufacturing to bear on the new architecture, and the 64 and 128Mb are production-ready now. The 256 Mb will roll out in 1999. Beyond that, modules in a variety of densities are available from Samsung right now. Including everything from 32- on up to 256-megabyte -and by next year, 1-gigabyte. (By the way, it's a module that looks just as different as it acts.) What does all this mean? It means that when there's a new DRAM (a DRAM so new it's even spelled differently), you know you can count on Samsung to have it.
