BoE to auction 25 tonnes of gold on Sept 21

LONDON (AFX) - The Bank of England said it will auction on behalf of the Treasury of approximately 25 tonnes of gold on September 21.

The auction is the second of a five-auction series in which the BoE is to sell 125 tons of gold on the Treasury's behalf for the financial year 1999/2000.

The first auction took place on July 6, at which a price of 261.20 usd was achieved.

It is intended that the remaining three auctions will be held every other calender month, that is in November 1999 and in January and March 2000.
