I agree with your final paragraph, although I think you cut it short on us... (maybe missing the word "deal"?). Q took advantage of the VLSI buyout, and will almost surely re-license Phillips, although on a new set of terms. Another thought that may have affected this is the purchase of the Q's infrastructure division by ERICY. Since ERICY and Phillips are both competitors in the European market, I don't see it as a stretch that Ericsson might have asked to be on more equal footing with Phillips during the infra. purchase negotiations.

In any case, unless LSI is taken over, I don't see this as anything that could hurt LSI... Q isn't doing anything other than acting in their best interests.
