Best Buy and Circuit City have ads for Athlon systems in this weekend's Sunday supplements. IBM and Compaq are the manufacturers. Appears Athlon supplies are sufficient for this kind of distribution. Prices after various rebates are under $2000.

Also PC World's October edition on page 234 says:

"In our recent tests, systems equipped with AMD's latest K6-III processors have outperformed systems with Pentium II and Pentium III CPU's of the same clock speed-a trend that could bode ill for processor giant Intel. Surprisingly, we've seen this phenomenon occur not only in low-end budget systems, but in all classes of PCs."

K6-IIIs are in sufficient supply that local clone makers are advertising machines with them. :=)
